Update / News – Late 2010

November 8th, 2010

Phil’s mom passed away on July 29. Since then, we have been busy taking care of her estate, personal effects, and the like.

As often happens with bad news, there comes some good news to balance it out. Jen and I are expecting our first child in March, 2011 – and it’s a boy! He will be named Corwyn Lee Gain. (But we expect most folks will just call him “Cory.”)

Also, now that life has started to settle down a bit, we are just starting to turn our attention back to Worldwide Motorcycle Tours. Watch this space for more updates in the near future…

Worldwide Motorcycle Tours is on hold for the time being…

July 6th, 2010

Hi everyone. Jen and I have decided to put the business on hold in the short term. My mother is in her final days – end-stage cancer – and we are taking care of her at home.

Once things have settled down here, we will try once more to begin operations. Thank you for your understanding!

Continuing to march!

June 7th, 2010

June 7 – In the office for a bit this morning, but have some family things to tend to mid-day. Might be back in this afternoon or evening. Watch the Skype icon – if it’s green, I’m in! :)

WE ARE OPEN!!

June 4th, 2010

I’m in the office today. Doing mostly setup type stuff, but the phone line is open at 508-439-4054 or Skype me at worldwide.motorcycle.tours :)

Tis the season (in the northern hemisphere) for a LONG road trip!

May 23rd, 2010

Today, Jen and I took the VTX out for a “tune-up” ride – a nice 250-300 mile circuit through New Hampshire and Vermont. Lots of friendly people and pretty scenery. The bike performed flawlessly, except for an annoying hum from the new brake pads. We’re hoping that will go away after the pads have had some time to “scuff in.”

Nothing like a couple hundred miles on the road to get a person thinking about longer trips. Obviously these require a lot more planning! More days and nights on the road mean a higher probability of equipment failure, bad weather, etc.

The good folks over at the Iron Butt Association have put together a really nice guide on what to bring / what to do to make your travels go smoothly. And of course, when you’re ready to plan your own two-wheeled epic, be sure to give me a call or drop me an email!

One more week til the doors open!

May 21st, 2010

Just wanted to remind everyone – June 1, Worldwide Motorcycle Tours goes LIVE. Phones and Skype will be open for business. (Although realistically, most of the day will be spent querying suppliers, loading up tours, and other miscellaneous tasks.)

Negotiations concluded!

May 4th, 2010

(from Phil) – Everything went much more smoothly and amicably today. Starting the first week of June, I’ll be at the day job Tuesday through Thursday, and putting in time for Worldwide Motorcycle Tours Friday through Monday!

The negotiations begin…

May 3rd, 2010

(from Phil) – So, the request to go part-time at the day job didn’t go over very well. I was reaching for the resignation letter before the tone of the meeting started to change. Talk about aggressive negotiations! So will I wind up starting Worldwide Motorcycle Tours on a part-time or full-time basis? Stay tuned to find out! :)

Monday May 3 – The Big Day!

May 2nd, 2010

Phil will be asking for a change in his work schedule at the “day job” tomorrow. Wanting to go part-time in order to have more time to devote to building Worldwide Motorcycle Tours!

More progress!

April 24th, 2010

Today we completed our reservation and contract forms. Turned out to be a much simpler task than anticipated! Now, when you are ready to sign up for a tour…you have something to sign!
